Description
The Eames Executive Chair, or the Time Life Chair as we much prefer to call it, has always been our favorite Eames design. Originally created for the Time & Life Building in 1960, the chair has developed an unmistakable aura over the decades. It is widely recognized for its historical significance, executive presence, and ingenious design, but to us it is simply a storied icon that we seek out whenever possible.
We were particularly excited to find this Time Life Chair because of its rarely seen brown-coated frame. Today, Herman Miller produces the chair with either a polished aluminum or black-coated frame, making this discontinued brown finish a far less common sight. Paired with its original Cigar leather upholstery, it creates a combination that is distinctly period-correct while remaining every bit as enduring today as it was in its production year of 1988.
We’ve worked to preserve the chair’s original materials wherever possible. Following a complete disassembly, every leather and hardware component was carefully inspected and polished to restore much of its original brilliance. The original leather retains a rich patina throughout, serving as a testament to the chair’s age, originality, and timelessness. -
