Description
Designed after the George Gershwin daybed. We produced this unique piece for a very special client. The design direction was completely influenced by the Gershwin bed. The new construction was completed using quality craftsmanship, handmade, one of a kind piece from Argentina. The overall piece can be disassembled into multiple pieces for delivery and easy assembly which include a base for the mattress, drawers, storage cubby holes, and “sun-ray” etched gilded glass that lights up. The glass door opens easily for changing LED bulbs will last for many years.
The wood colors are enhanced hardwood with many ebonized wood edges which help to give dimension to the piece. All metal including glass lightbox case, drawer handles have been finished in chrome. There are two pull out drawers below the mattress which are great for storage of bedding material. The terraced bookcase behind the bed allows for displays of collections, books, or whatever might be of interest. The playful black and cream fabric cover on the mattress and spring is extremely high quality and the matching pillow bolsters make this an elegant sofa-couch. This sofa can be easily used for sleeping, thus the name “daybed”.
