Early 18th Century French Pink Upholstered Armchair
-
Description
A large and handsome 300 year old arm chair. Wonderful turned legs. Good color and patina. Upholstery distressed. We think this is from France but it could be from Spain or Italy as well. An early 18th century or older continental chair was a rare item then as only the rich, the clergy, and the nobility had chairs period. Everyone else was lucky to have a stool. As a consequence, such chairs were prestigious, high seated and over sized, generally incorporating a raked back for comfort and surprisingly comfortable today.
