Description
Pair Eero Saarinen Knoll Tulip Swivel Stools, Mid-Century Modern, Signed, 1978. A matched pair of Tulip swivel stools designed by Eero Saarinen for Knoll International. A matched pair of Tulip swivel stools designed by Eero Saarinen for Knoll International. Both are date-stamped June 12, 1978 and retain their Knoll International labels (745 Fifth Avenue, New York), along with the factory order tag and the polyurethane foam content label. The order tag shows the pair was originally shipped to Dublin, Ohio.
The seats are upholstered in a brown and black striped woven fabric, believed to be original to the stools. The original foam has settled slightly differently in each seat: one cushion sits a little flatter, while the other retains a fuller profile, as shown in the photos. Both swivel freely; expect some squeaking when sitting down, as is common with age. The white pedestal bases are cast aluminum with a powder-coated finish, and each carries the cast BR 51 mark on the underside. Both are fitted with felt floor protectors. The bases show very light wear consistent with age and use. -
