Mid-century modern is to-the-point and no-nonsense, much like the straightforward interior style, which championed notions of functionality, ease and modern simplicity. This three-seater sofa, with its perfectly balanced aesthetic is a beautiful example of the movement.

This curved, so-called banana sofa is focused on the aesthetics of modern design whilst employing the exquisite technique and material familiarity of highly skilled craftsmen known as cabinetmakers. The visual appearance of this sofa echoes European mid-century refinement and directs the eyes to the voluptuous body, that is the result of the exquisite craftsmanship. The curved and organic lines of the design create an elegant silhouette, whilst the crisp lines “disappear” into the soft wool blend upholstery that uniquely covers the entire body, including the legs as well. This creates an almost ethereal impression, pushing the design into the realm of art. At the same time, mid-century European cabinetmakers held functionality above all else, therefore the enveloping back, and the ergonomic curves are in service of the ultimate lounging experience.
