Description
This fine pair of 19th-century Swedish Rococo chairs blends sculptural elegance with a bold, moody palette. Painted in a rich matte black, the chairs feature gracefully contoured balloon backs, carved with floral and foliate motifs emblematic of the Rococo period. The curvaceous apron and cabriole legs showcase intricate relief carving, lending a sense of movement and refinement to the silhouette. Upholstered in a golden mustard velvet, the seats add a warm contrast and a subtle note of opulence. These chairs exemplify the Swedish interpretation of Rococo design, lighter and more restrained than their French counterparts, yet no less captivating. Perfect as accent chairs in a foyer, flanking a console, or as a dramatic pairing in a bedroom or study, they offer timeless character with a contemporary edge. Structurally sound and visually striking, this set is a testament to the enduring beauty of Northern European craftsmanship.
This is an antique and having been around for a long time, it will show signs of wear. Antique pieces have very much sought-after character and associated flaws. Please review photos for condition & contact us with questions! -
