French 18th Century Period Louis XV Bergere

$ 2,300
  • Description
    Dimensions: 39 ½” H x 32 ½” W x 30” D

    A fantastic and inviting French Louis XV period (circa 1750) carved oak bergere with more recent upholstery. The exposed wood frame, in all those sinuous curves typical of the Louis XV taste, is accented with floral and foliate carvings at the top, apron, and knees of the chair’s front legs. The seat interior, firm and deep to read or lounge, is currently dressed in a printed cotton upholstery of pheasants and flowers, carried through the outside arms but the backside is plain linen. Dainty cabriole legs lift the chair from the floor. We recommend having the frame tightened when adding new upholstery. Please view the detailed images to see the current condition of this historic bergere chair.

    Seat height: 17”
    Seat depth: 24 ½”
