French Brutalist stool, circa 1950s, executed in solid wood with expressive hand-carved detailing. The piece features a shaped seat supported by four subtly splayed cylindrical legs, with a tall back support rising from the rear.

The back is carved with vertical fluting and openwork, culminating in a circular crest depicting a stylized face surrounded by radiating elements, evoking a sun motif. The combination of geometric structure and figurative carving reflects the sculptural, artisanal qualities associated with mid-century French Brutalist design.

Visible grain, tonal variation, and carving marks contribute to the character of the piece and highlight its hand-worked construction. Functions as both seating and a sculptural accent.
