Description
Very fine pair of armchairs by Frits Henningsen (1889-1965), having wonderfully modeled mahogany frames with generously angled backs, sinuous armrests, and flared back legs, with hand-woven French cane panels and new custom cushions; Denmark, 1930s-1940s; frames numbered. These handsome, comfortable and fastidiously crafted chairs were inspired by Egyptian throne designs and include similar features such as tilted backs and abstracted lion paw feet.
