Gianfranco Frattini for Cassina, "Sesann", two-seater sofa, Italy, 1970 ca.
-
Description
At the end of the 1960s (1969/1971) Cassina proposed two models of seatings with similar characteristics: low seat, polyurethane padding, visible chromed steel elements: "Soriana", designed by Afra and Tobia Scarpa and "Sesann" conceived by Gianfranco Frattini. While for the Scarpa sofas and armchairs, the metal component is very marked, present and visible, the Frattini chairs have a softer and more voluptuous line: the chromed steel tubular has a function of containing the padding and serves to stop the upholstery fabric, without ever being the protagonist. The sofa we present is a two-seater: the padding and the metal parts are the original ones and are in good condition. For the upholstery we used a woolen canvas with an irregular texture in gray color. The Cassina label / nameplate was partially broken during a move and roughly re-glued by the original owners.
