An English Walnut and Tufted Leather Library Armchair by Gillows, 19th C.
-
Description
A distinguished English library armchair by Gillows, branded as shown. Crafted in walnut, the chair features a deep, generously proportioned seat and supportive back, both with tufted leather upholstery—exceptionally comfortable and inviting. The shaped open arms and finely turned front legs contrast with the slightly flared back legs, creating a balanced, elegant profile. Legs all terminate in casters. There is loss to the leather at one top corner, consistent with age and use, but it does not detract from the chair’s handsome presence. A classic and highly collectible example of Gillows craftsmanship.
