Gio Ponti foldable brass chair, Italy, 1950s
-
Description
A very rare, foldable prototype chair by Gio Ponti. The brass chair has a loose seating made of wood and thin metal strips. The flattened ellipse shape used for the frame and the armrests annex folding mechanism are spectaculair. Both the quality and aging of the brass, as well as the shape and simplicity, yet executed in solid brass, of the mechanism are wonderful details. A true collector's item.
