Description
GUSTAVE STICKLEY, MODEL NO. 360 ARMCHAIR
United States, circa 1900–1910
36 3/4" H x 21 3/4" D x 28" W x 18 1/2" H to seat
A Gustav Stickley model no. 360 armchair in oak with original dark finish, upholstered in leather secured with brass tacks. The rectilinear form is softened with subtly arched corbels supporting the arms, the broad plank construction and pegged joinery emphasize the structural clarity characteristic of Stickley’s Craftsman designs. The model 360 was among Stickley’s early armchair forms, offered both as an office chair on castors (with and without arms) as well as the present form in their 1909 catalog. This example was offered for $ 18.00 at that time.
Condition: Old leather, probably mid-to-late 20th century with scuffs and staining as expected. Old finish to the oak with rubbing and wear, overall a lovely patina. Scuffs and blemishes as expected throughout. Sturdy joints, comfortable and ready to place.
