Description
This rare set of twelve armchairs, model JH-507, was designed by Hans J. Wegner and produced by the esteemed Danish cabinetmaker Johannes Hansen in the 1950s. The chairs epitomize the refined craftsmanship and sculptural elegance that define Wegner’s contributions to mid-century Scandinavian design.
Each chair features a frame constructed from solid teak, a wood renowned for its durability, rich warm tones, and fine grain. The armrests are meticulously sculpted and flow seamlessly into the rear legs, exemplifying Wegner’s organic approach to blending form and function. The joinery is executed with exceptional precision, while the gently curved backrests are ergonomically shaped to offer comfortable support.
The chairs have been reupholstered with Gabriel Savak plain wool fabric, a high-quality textile designed by Tove Kindt Larsen. The fabric’s soft, natural hue harmonizes beautifully with the teak’s warmth, reinforcing the minimalist yet welcoming aesthetic typical of Danish modern furniture.
This set of twelve represents a pinnacle in mid-century Danish design, balancing simplicity, comfort, and expert craftsmanship, making it a highly prized ensemble for collectors and connoisseurs.
The dimensions of each chair are 62 cm in width (24.4 inches), 57 cm in depth (22.4 inches), 81.5 cm in height (32.1 inches), with a seat height of 44 cm (17.3 inches).
