Description
Designed by Henning Kjærnulf in the 1960s, this set of six oak chairs display distinctive rustic yet modern style thanks to their curved backrests. Kjaernulf’s works reveal quality craftsmanship throughout, featuring clean Danish modern-era lines with sculpted edges and shapes. His designs for seating are distinctive and always a reliable addition for a touch of the Danish modern look.
The set consists of six chairs made of solid oak, with a beautiful grain and colour. The style and shape of the frames have a smooth structure featuring straight and curved edges throughout. The design combines this with the traditional Scandinavian style, and as a result, this set has a visually arresting and individual aesthetic. The seating has recently been reupholstered in a premium bouclé fabric that creates a nice contrast with the beautiful colour and patina of the oak frames.
These models were manufactured by EG Kvalitetsmobel in Denmark during the 1960s. While there are numerous forms of ornamentation on these chairs, yet the design stays coherent. The material and visual quality is maintained throughout the chairs, making them truly timeless. If there is a single common denominator for Danish Modern, it is the quality of the execution, the woodwork and the upholstery. The fact that so much of the original furniture has survived to the present-day bears testimony to the fact that Danish Modern was second to none in craftsmanship.
