Description
This rare Danish Modern lounge chair by Illum Wikkelsø for Niels Eilersen is a testament to the refined craftsmanship of the 1950s Scandinavian design movement. The solid teak wood frame, newly refinished to highlight its warm tones and exquisite joinery, features Wikkelsø’s signature sculptural lines and an airy, open-back design. The chair has been completely restored, with new Pirelli webbing for optimal support, new high-density foam for plush comfort, and new luxurious tweed upholstery in a soft, textured off-white. This piece embodies both aesthetic elegance and functional comfort, making it a perfect addition to any Mid-Century Modern or contemporary setting.
Fun Historical Fact: Illum Wikkelsø was a master of organic modernism, designing furniture that promoted relaxation while maintaining a sculptural presence. His work was deeply inspired by the Danish landscape, and his chairs were crafted to mirror the natural curves of the human body, ensuring both beauty and ergonomic excellence. - More Information
