Important Pair of Georgian Giltwood Sofas Attributed to John Cobb

Description
Very important pair of George III gilt wood rococo sofas attributed to John Cobb, the arched shaped back over scrolled arms with acanthus leaf carving, over triple serpentine seat, the frame with foliate and rocaille carving, standing on scroll carved cabriole legs on octagonal pads.
One settee circa 1765, the other circa 1880.
These settees are very similar to other settees and chairs made by William Vile and John Cobb, such as the mahogany suite made for the Earl of Coventry for Croome Court, Worcestershire. Vile and Cobb also made a very similar ones for the Hon. John Same for Came House, Dorset.
Now upholstered in Suzanne Tucker Home - Irene Clover cut velvet. -
