Description
This daybed has a calm and well-balanced presence, defined by its generous proportions and low, horizontal profile. The backrest and armrests are set at the same height, creating an enveloping outline that feels reassuring and naturally invites rest. Despite its size, the open structure and repeating curved elements give the piece a light, relaxed appearance within the space.
The frame is made of bamboo and rattan, carefully bent and assembled to combine linear sections with fluid curves. The construction details—wrapped joints, visible connections and the regular rhythm of the rattan loops—speak of skilled craftsmanship. The upholstered cushions, with their clean and compact forms, sit neatly within the structure, offering comfort while reinforcing the clarity of the design.
Produced in Italy in the 1950s, this daybed belongs to the tradition of mid-century rattan furniture that brought ideas of leisure and informality into domestic interiors. While evocative of summer living, its measured proportions and controlled design reflect the refined approach typical of Italian manufacture of the period. Two identical examples are available and may be purchased individually.
The daybed is in good overall condition. The bamboo and rattan structure is solid and well preserved, with minor wear and natural variations consistent with age and use. The cushions are in good condition and present well.
