Rare Pair of Scimitar Chairs by Preben Fabricius and Jorgen Kastholm

Description
A beautiful pair of exceptionally well-made Scimitar lounge chairs designed by Preben Fabricius and Jørgen Kastholm for Bo-Ex. These striking chairs are a masterclass in late-modern Scandinavian design—where sculptural form, technical precision, and comfort meet in perfect balance.
The design is defined by its sensuous, floating seat shell, expertly upholstered in rich black leather and subtly contoured to cradle the body. A distinctive teardrop opening at the seat adds both visual lightness and ergonomic function, while showcasing the designers’ fascination with organic geometry. The chairs rest on dramatic brushed steel scimitar-shaped cantilever bases, giving the pieces their name and lending them an architectural, almost weightless presence.
Fabricius and Kastholm were renowned for blending minimalist aesthetics with advanced craftsmanship, and these chairs exemplify their philosophy. The construction is solid and substantial, yet visually refined—every angle considered, every material choice deliberate.
Equally suited for a collector’s interior, a design-forward living space, or a curated office environment, this pair offers both comfort and iconic visual impact. Rare to find as a matched set and increasingly difficult to source, these Scimitar chairs represent an outstanding example of high-level Danish modern design from two of the period’s most sophisticated designers.
A timeless statement piece with true collector appeal.
