Description
Number of Pieces 8+ Description set consists of 2 armchairs and 10 side chairs each stamped jacob freres ,rue meslee-- jacob freres was the stamp used by the brothers Georges II and Francois Honore' Jacob, from 1796- 1803 . They were the sons of Georges Jacob, furniture maker who worked for the aristocracy and royalty during the reign of Louis XVI. AMong their clients were Marie Antoinette and the Comte d-Artois. The company was held in high regard by the royals and avant- garde and was considered "the obvious and almost only choice in Paris for new luxury furniture. Jacob Freres most famous client was Josephine, wife of Napoleon Bonaparte, where their furniture was used in imperial palaces and the Tuileries Palace.
