Galaxie Chair by Jacques Henri Varichon
-
Description
"Galaxie" chair in natural canvas, steel, and aluminum, designed in 1969 by architect and designer Jacques Henri Varichon, and manufacturered by Steiner. The tubular steel bars and end caps conceal the tension wires that help support and suspend the seat. Four threaded rods and two couplings in the back brace the network of cables and rods and keep the chair upright. Unexpectedly comfortable, the Galaxie chair, aka the Zig-Zig chair, also showcases impressive lines and smooth, side-to-side rocking. Intact with all original parts and the original canvas seat, all in great condition.
