Rare, chic pair of early French industrial / modernist lounge / Slipper chairs in tubular metal and red skai designed for the Paris headquarters of EDF-GDF by Jacques Hitier for Tubauto.
The tubular metal structure has saber form rear legs and an open suspended seat and back structure that highlights its brilliant form. Labeled GDF/Paris on bottoms.
Hitier was a leader of the industrial aesthetic and his spare, functional forms maintained a gracefulness and comfort that transformed thinking about design.
