Description
Jean Prouvé standard chair SP in citron and chocolate for Vitra. The standard SP chair is a modernized variation on an early masterpiece by the French designer and engineer Jean Prouvé. Originally designed in 1934, the Standard evolved into one of the most famous classics of the French 'constructeur'. The seat and backrest of this understated, iconic chair are available in various types of high grade ASA plastic and, like the metal frame, comes in a variety of different colors.
Price is per item. Hand made to order in Switzerland. Current configuration shown is Citron ASA and Chocolate colored powder-coated metal. Please specify ASA/metal color combination when ordering.
Materials:
Base: Mint fine structure, glides brown.
Backrest and seat: Teak Brown.
Glides: Hard glides (standard).
Dimensions: W 16.5” H 32.75”
Chairs take the most stress on their back legs, where they bear the weight of the user's upper body. The engineer, architect and designer Jean Prouvé incorporated this simple insight in his design for the Standard Chair: while steel tubing su¦ces for the front legs, since they are subject to less stress, the back legs are made of voluminous hollow sections that transfer the primary weight to the floor. Standard SP (Siège en Plastique) builds a bridge from past to present, giving this iconic chair a contemporary look without altering its form: made of robust plastic, the seat surface and backrest of Standard SP come in a palette of finely modulated colors. The durable matte finish of the powder-coated bases matches the plastic surfaces of the chair.
In-stock lead time 15-16 weeks. Out of stock lead time up to an additional 8 weeks or more. Please note that inventory can change at any time. -
