Description
2 Rare Prototype Italian Mid-Century Organic Modern Swivel Lounge Chairs attributed to Joe Colombo, circa 1968-1970. (Priced and Sold as Individual Pieces), These unique prototype chairs form a singular, powerful futurist design statement, yet are upholstered in luxurious fabric and steeped in deep comfort. The chairs embody the notion of 'speed, forward movement and progress' that was the thesis of the Futurist movement, yet the pieces are firmly anchored in their original, soft, highest quality Italian silk black velvet and invite one to sink and dream in their enveloping forms. The chairs are anchored into round white enameled swivel bases rotating 360 degrees conveying that "all things are possible for one who is open". Their sleek and sensuous nature is amplified by their sleek forms, undulating volume and line. Even the armrests are set off by matte stainless steel posts and assert organically forward while maintaining functional comfort. And, their restrained color palette of soft black, white and stainless steel allows them to work with all color palettes. Dimensions: H 36 x W 35 x D 36”
