Description
Outstanding pair of white lacquered Art Nouveau Thonet armchairs from the period around 1905 in Austria. The timeless design of this iconic Vienesse secession armchairs comes from the pen of no other than the world-famous Austrian architect and pioneer of modern design Josef Hoffmann (1870 -1956). Also known as the founder of the renowed "Wiener Werkstatette", his creations were always way ahead of its time. These extraordinary armchairs were artfully executed out of fine beechwood by the world market leader of bentwood furniture: Thonet Vienna. The chair´s frames are still in perfect original condition, so we decided to just clean the lovely, patinated white lacquered surfaces and give them a traditional shellac sealing to preserve its unique charm. The seating surfaces as well as the backrests have been reupholstered with a beautiful patterned grey/ green high quality Art Nouveau fabric coming from the wellknown company of Backhausen. A real amazing pair of early 20th century Thonet armchairs from the Viennesse secession period which fits contemporary/ modern as well as traditional interior designs. This exceptional Thonet armchairs by Josef Hoffmann don´t only look great, they are also very comfortable to sit.
