Description
This stunning and understated lounge chair realized by the esteemed Karpen of California, circa 1960. It features splayed legs in walnut resting on conical brass sabots. The legs adjoin at a curvilinear wishbone joint, continuing their angled ascent upwards to a subtly flared end. The back features channelled stitching that traces the contours of the curved seat. With its clean lines and casual elegance, this chair embodies the sophistication and timeless appeal of California Mid-Century Modernism at its very best. It would be an excellent acquisition for collectors of first-rate midcentury furniture, or for those simply looking for a gorgeous lounge chair. It has been newly reupholstered in smoked pewter velvet and is in mint restored condition.
