Description
A 1950s Italian “womb” style lounge chair attributed to Lenzi Italy. Newly reupholstered in a high pile plush cream mohair. Space age silhouette with an iron base. Sourced in Italy.
Lenzi (Italy) was an Italian furniture manufacturer active primarily during the 1950s–1960s, producing seating and upholstered furnishings aligned with the principles of Italian Mid-Century Modern design. Lenzi’s work is characterized by clean, architectural lines softened by generous proportions, refined upholstery, and the use of elegant metal or brass details—hallmarks of postwar Italian modernism that emphasized both comfort and visual lightness.
While less widely documented than major contemporaries, Lenzi contributed to the broader landscape of mid-century Italian design by translating modernist ideals into well-crafted, livable pieces. Today, vintage furniture attributed to Lenzi is valued by collectors for its understated sophistication, quality construction, and its representation of Italy’s rich design culture during the mid-20th century. -
