Set of Ten Brazilian Modern Dining Chairs in Rosewood and Cane by Móveis Primus

$ 24,000
  • Description
    An exceptional and increasingly rare set of ten Brazilian Modern dining chairs produced by Móveis Primus during the 1960s. Distinguished by their restrained architectural lines and remarkable material quality, the chairs embody the sophisticated balance between European modernist influences and the rich craftsmanship that defined Brazil’s golden age of design.

    Each chair is crafted in beautifully figured rosewood, displaying dramatic grain movement and deep tonal variation throughout the frames. The design is characterized by tall rectilinear backs, clean geometric proportions, and finely executed joinery that allows the natural beauty of the wood to take center stage.

    A particularly desirable feature of this set is the original hand-woven cane. Both the seats and backrests retain their original caning, which remains in remarkably well-preserved condition, exhibiting excellent tension, uniform color, and a rich natural patina developed over decades of careful use. The warm cane beautifully complements the depth and character of the rosewood, creating a visual lightness that is emblematic of Brazilian Modern design.

    The simplicity of the silhouette makes these chairs exceptionally versatile, pairing effortlessly with both Brazilian and international modernist interiors. Their understated elegance allows them to function equally well in formal dining settings, contemporary residences, or collector-focused interiors.

    Large original sets of Brazilian Modern dining chairs are increasingly difficult to source, particularly examples retaining their original caning and presented in this quantity. The survival of all ten chairs together adds a level of rarity and desirability seldom encountered in the market today.

    A highly collectible dining set that reflects the refinement, craftsmanship, and enduring appeal of mid-century Brazilian design.

    Condition: Very good vintage condition. Original cane seats and backs remain exceptionally well preserved with strong tension and attractive patina. Rosewood frames display minor age-appropriate wear consistent with careful use.
