Description
SALE: This piece is on offer now for the exceptional price of US $ 13,000/Trade $ 12,000 (was $ 25,000). We offer it so low-priced, 1.) because we acknowledge the upholstery will likely be re-done, even though it is still in quite good condition. 2.) Seller wants to sell quickly.
We offer 4 square seating elements, one footrest/stool/bench-type element, 3 backrests, and 2 armrests, perfect to create one’s cosy and generous relaxing landscape. The single small footrest element seems to be rare as it is not offered frequently on the market. The iconic CAMALEONDA by Milanese architect and designer Mario Bellini evokes 70ies nostalgia, while being a timeless classic. It is a famously comfortable and versatile seating furniture. This design icon is one of the first truly modular sofa systems. The seats and armrests can be hooked and unhooked to create endless opportunities and configurations.
Our Mario Bellini Camaleonda sofa is an original by C&B Italia (Cassina & Busnelli), fabricated in the very early 70ies, C&B being the precursor of B&B Italia. In 1973 Piero Ambrogio Busnelli took over C&B Italia, the company he had co-founded with Cesare Cassina and renamed it B&B. Cesare Cassina soon after founded his own furniture design company, Cassina. The C&B Camaleonda design was created in 1970 by Mario Bellini. It became a hit in the trailblazing 1972 exhibition “Italy: The New Domestic Landscape” at New York’s Museum of Modern Art.
Vintage Camaleonda pieces have become sought-after collection items, especially the C&B era version, as it is perceived as “the more original” than its B&B successors.
We offer our sofa here in its original C&B version, which has been re-upholstered once about 2 decades ago. The dark green velvet upholstery is still in good condition, however, if the new owner feels to give it a fully fresh look, or change the colour scheme or texture, the sofa can be re-upholstered in any material.
Condition: Wear consistent with age and use. Good vintage condition. Some spots of fading colour and occasional rubs to the upholstery.
SHIPS FROM MEXICO. Shipping not included. -
