Description
Restored Bauhaus Steeltube and Wood Seating Group consisting of 1 rectangular table and 4 cantilever chairs (model S43) from Germany/Czech Republic about 1930.
Design (chairs): Mart Stam, 1927/28, also sometimes attributed to Marcel Breuer.
Manufacturer: likely Thonet, licensed production by Robert Slezak, CZ, 1930s
The table is made of oak and tubular steel construction. It has one rectangular top plate with curved edges and underneath one in-between tableau that rests inside the legs.
The chairs are made of beech plywood and polished steels tubes. They offer a very good seating comfort.
The set has been fully restored. The old rusted galvanization has been removed and the metal parts polished. The wooden parts have been relacquered in several layers PU and high-gloss polished.
