Brazilian Modern Chair in Cane & Iron by Carlo Hauner & Martin Eisler, 1955
-
Description
This Brazilian modern chair was designed by Carlo Hauner & Martin Eisler in 1955. The frame is made with a black iron structure that supports the cane seating. The seat of the chair is curved and sinks in, which allows for a super comfortable seating. The slim legs and use of cane gives this chair a sleek design, and allows it to be styled into any home interior. It has also been refinished and is now in excellent condition.
Carlo Hauner (1927-1997) and Martin Eisler (1913-1977) were the primary designers for the iconic Brazilian furniture company Forma. Hauner’s and Eisler’s designs are characterized by the use of Brazilian woods, thin tubular frames, and range from furniture, to ceramics and textiles. Their narrative spans through four countries (Italy, Austria, Brazil, and Argentina) and several decades, and their exceptional works are already highly sought-after examples of the vibrant modern design movement in Latin America.
