Born in 1942, Michel Cadestin is a French designer and interior architect. A graduate of the Ecole Boulle in 1961 and the École Nationale des Arts Décoratifs in 1964, he was quickly spotted by the Teda firm, which he joined in 1970.
In 1976, he won the consultancy for the design of the Centre Pompidou in Paris. For the Centre, he created the Treillis chair series, produced by Teda.
In 1983, he founded his own agency, Création Recherche, and became the first designer to be named Creator of the Year. His work has won numerous awards. It is characterized by the pursuit of functional, playful, and adaptable design.
Fan of modular, inflatable and collapsible furniture in the 1970s, Michel Cadestin has always sought to create design for the greatest number of people, functional, fun and evolving, applying his research for mass production to the more human domain of housing.
