Description
Available now (20 mins from NYC!), this Midcentury Modern Rocking Chairs in Caviuna Hardwood & Cream Aqua block cushions made in fifties are gorgeous!
The woodwork has all the Brazilian Modern style of the fifties. The back has wood slates and is nicely finished with wood pins. The loose cushions have waterproof fabric (Acqua block) and combine nicely with the color of the wood. Also, the wood has been re-treated to be outdoors. Sold as a set of two.
This set would look incredible in any modern, Mid-century, Rustic, French country or even Bohemian Chic environment.
When I bought this set, the wood was painted in brown. Normally, when the wood is painted, the wood is not a precious one. But during the restoration process we found out the wood was of the finest Caviuna, a precious wood favorite of modernist designers like Giuseppe Scapinelli and Rino Levi.
The last 3 pictures showcase how we found the rocking chairs (painted in brown) and how the wood looked once the paint was removed. Besides the marks of age in the legs, the piece is in excellent condition
These pair are a nice example of good design and woodwork in Brazil of the 1950’s.
