Modernist Pedestal Stool, France, Mid-20th Century

Description
French modernist pedestal stool dating to the mid-20th century, originating from a chalet in Megève. The compact wooden seat is subtly hollowed across the top and shaped with a faceted outer edge, contrasting with the highly reduced structure below. A single slender steel column rises from a flat circular base, creating a simple composition in which wood and metal remain clearly distinct.
The restrained construction gives the stool an architectural quality characteristic of post-war modernist furniture, while the shaped wooden seat introduces a more tactile, crafted element. Six examples originating from the same chalet in Megève are available, each offered individually.
