Description
The Nanna Ditzel ND-83 cognac leather chair for Søren Willadsen is a refined example of Danish Modern design, blending sculptural form with exceptional comfort. Upholstered in rich cognac leather, the chair features a beautifully contoured seat and back that gently cradle the body. Its solid walnut wood frame showcases clean lines and subtle curves, emphasizing both strength and elegance. Thoughtful proportions and exposed joinery reflect the high level of craftsmanship associated with Danish furniture of this period. This chair remains highly versatile, working equally well as a lounge chair, reading chair, or statement piece in a modern interior.
Fun Historical Fact
Nanna Ditzel was one of the most celebrated Danish designers of the 20th century and was often referred to as the “Grand Dame of Danish Design.” She challenged the rigid forms of early modernism by introducing softer, more organic silhouettes focused on human comfort. The ND-83 chair reflects her belief that furniture should feel inviting and emotionally engaging, not just functional. Many of Ditzel’s designs, including seating for Søren Willadsen, have become iconic collectibles due to their timeless appeal and forward-thinking ergonomics. -
