Ole Jacobsen Rare Armchair for C.B. Hansen Etabl., Denmark, 1949

$ 38,000
  • Description
    An exceptionally rare armchair designed by Danish architect Ole Jacobsen and produced by C.B. Hansen Etabl., one of Denmark’s most respected cabinetmakers, renowned for its exceptional craftsmanship and for supplying furniture to the Danish Royal Court.

    This model was produced in a very limited number of examples for the executive offices of the ØK (East Asiatic Company) in Copenhagen. The interior, including this armchair, was featured in a 1949 advertisement for C.B. Hansen, providing rare period documentation of the design within its original architectural setting.

    Originally conceived for a prestigious corporate interior, the chair reflects the refined restraint and architectural clarity that defined Danish Modern design during the post-war years. Its sculptural silhouette, softened by fluid organic lines, demonstrates an elegant balance between functionality and craftsmanship.

    Executed in solid teak, the chair is distinguished by its beautifully sculpted open frame, gracefully curved armrests, and elegant runner-style legs. The seamless transitions between each element reveal the exceptional level of craftsmanship associated with C.B. Hansen, creating a design that is both architecturally refined and remarkably inviting.

    The chair has been newly upholstered in natural sheepskin, introducing a rich tactile quality that contrasts beautifully with the warm tone of the teak. The luxurious texture enhances the chair’s organic character while complementing its sculptural form, creating a piece that is as comfortable as it is visually striking.

    Excellent vintage condition. Newly upholstered in natural sheepskin. The teak frame retains a beautiful patina consistent with age and careful use.
