Description
The Art Deco movement took inspiration from its predecessors, such as Art Nouveau and Cubism, and transformed the world of interior design. Characterised by geometric shapes, rich materials, and luxurious aesthetics, its ethos is beautifully exemplified by pieces representative of the era’s glamour and exuberance such as this pair of armchairs.
This timeless pair immediately catches the eye with their bold outline - a perfect reflection of that time period’s fascination with harmonious proportions coupled with opulence and comfort. Without additional ornamentation, the focus is on the full, upholstered body, framed on either side by the curved wooden armrests in walnut veneer, ensuring both aesthetics and durability. The tightly upholstered seats and backs live up to their history rooted in luxury, while simultaneously enhancing the cosiness of the design. The fabric is soft and luxurious though its striking burnt orange colour. The obvious quality of the craftsmanship complements the design perfectly through the choice of materials, techniques, and well-thought-out details. The edges of the seats and backrests are outlined with piping, adding yet another level of visual interest to the pieces. The armchairs rest on four sturdy, square-shaped wooden legs, which offer stability and complete the look.
Anchored in their era’s iconic and skillfully executed craftsmanship, this pair of armchairs serves as a quintessential reminder of the beauty found in the Art Deco movement. Exuding warmth and glamour, these pieces can complete a variety of interiors while being equal parts captivating and practical.
