Description
Art Deco was an era-defining movement in furniture design. During its heyday, it represented luxury, glamour, exuberance and faith in social and technological progress. European furniture designers’ artistic approach was anchored by refinement, expressed through graceful forms and traditional methods. The mix of boldness and richness became central to European Art Deco interiors, where furniture was expected to contribute atmosphere as much as function.
These chairs illustrate the bold aesthetic of the first half of the 20th century. Art Deco designers and cabinetmakers coupled geometry and craftsmanship to create elegantly impressive pieces like this pair. The construction of this stunning pair features high-quality materials, from the wooden frame to the soft upholstery. The frames are defined by the sweeping and sleek arms that curve outward and downward in a flowing motion. Their striking appearance is the result of the brilliant pairing of materials; the solid wood structures’ polished lines stand out against the textural, organic sheepskin while also accentuating the individuality of the upholstery. The long-haired fabric gives the chairs an almost organic appearance while emphasizing comfort and warmth.
As a pair, these armchairs stand as striking examples of European craftsmanship. The thoughtful design, from the choice of materials to the thoughtful details, ensures that these chairs are as much a work of art as they are functional seating, enhancing the comfort and aesthetic value of any space. As relics of a pivotal time in design history, they continue to inspire and captivate, embodying the enduring appeal of modernist and Art Deco principles.
