Description
Art Deco was an era defining movement in furniture design. This pair of armchairs was created during an age of aesthetic creativity, and instantly recognisable cabinetmaking. European furniture designers’ artistic approach was anchored by characteristic Art Deco refinement expressed through graceful forms and traditional methods.
Characterised by its bold geometric shapes, rich materials, and luxurious aesthetics, Art Deco transformed the way we perceive interior spaces. It was a testament to the fusion of form and function, and this ethos is beautifully exemplified in this pair of armchairs. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, the geometric shape of this pair is highlighted by the beautiful material choices. The chairs feature fully upholstered bodies, embracing the era’s ruling principle of luxurious comfort without sacrificing style. The wooden accents on the armrests are a gentle visual contrast to the textile, while also providing a sense of stability and durability, ensuring that the chairs will keep standing the test of time. The duality of the materials also create an elegant, enticing, and beautiful design. This design is a classic that goes beyond trends, a product of the desire to showcase impeccable craftsmanship and a stylish aesthetic, without compromising the quality of production or materials.
Like club chairs, armchairs - perhaps the most quintessential pieces of furniture - were embraced during the Art Deco era for their comfort and timeless appeal. They were favoured in upscale clubs and lounges across Europe, providing an inviting haven for relaxation and socialising. These chairs symbolise an era of sophistication and luxury, and their enduring popularity is a testament to the enduring allure of Art Deco design.
