Description
Mid-century modern, a design movement devoted to timeless functionalism, established itself in the post-war period with furniture that appealed to the senses. Furniture design was guided by the famous maxim: “Form follows function.”
In the mid-century design era, often a piece of furniture would combine only two materials or colours – creating tension and harmony without fuss or superfluous ornament, and these upholstered lounge chairs are perfect examples of this. The duality of two materials and colour schemes create an elegant, enticing and beautiful design. The combination of solid wood and high-quality upholstery is traditional in mid-century design for good reason. The two materials complement each other by highlighting their unique material qualities. The maker of this pair parlayed the wood into a modern, minimal design that is soulful and timeless. Furthermore, the gentle shape, ergonomic construction and perfect proportions show the thought and expertise that went into the creation of these chairs. The designer of these chairs has evidently had a clear design idiom and guiding principles: function, durability, timeless design, and perhaps above all, comfort. This traditional yet playful pair combines all of these characteristics, which makes them ideal as the focal point of any space.
This design is a classic that goes beyond trends, a product of a deep-rooted desire to showcase impeccable craftsmanship and a stylish aesthetic, without compromising the quality of production or materials. This pair ensures both a level of quality and visual appeal, a testament to the skill and dedication of its makers.
