Pair of Painted French 19th Century Louis XVI-Style Fauteuils

Description
Dimensions: 34 1/4? H x 22 1/2? W x 22 3/4? D
A lovely pair of painted French 19th century round-back fauteuils, upholstered in vintage coral velvet. The armchairs are beautifully carved and painted, with both the paint and hardwood acquiring an exceptional patina over time. The frame sports an antiqued taupe-colored paint, with some of the bare hardwood exposed where paint has been lost. The coral-colored velvet upholstery is in good condition. It was present when we purchased the pair in France. It has a darling trim that graces the seat, back and manchets. The chairs’ joinery is all tight and without any play. They were likely tightened when the pair was recently recovered.
