Pair of Richard L. Sandfort Aluminum Lounge Chairs, 1950
Freshly Upholstered in Holly Hunt “Birds of Paradise,” Beta Blue
A striking pair of aluminum outdoor lounge chairs by Richard L. Sandfort, Inc., circa 1950. These sculptural chairs embody the relaxed elegance of mid-century California living—picture a young Norma Jeane reclining poolside in Beverly Hills on a Sandfort lounger.
Design & Materials:
– Painted aluminum frames with updated internal spring seating
– Reupholstered in Holly Hunt’s “Birds of Paradise in Beta Blue” from The Great Outdoors collection
– 100% solution-dyed Sunbrella yarn with a stain-repellent finish
– Rated for 50,000 Wyzenbeek double rubs (heavy-duty)
– New cushions for improved comfort and durability

Condition:
Structurally sound with finish wear and scattered scratches consistent with age and outdoor use. Newly upholstered cushions and replaced spring platforms.
About the Designer:
Richard L. Sandfort, Inc. was a boutique California furniture maker known for elevated outdoor furnishings that blended modernist lines with relaxed West Coast style. Their aluminum-framed designs were favored in upscale mid-century homes, especially in Southern California. -
