A pair of Swedish chairs with classic sulla barrel backs in the Gustavian style with plaster decorative details, newly upholstered in linen. Beautifully carved bell flowers around the backs of the chairs and on the seat frame, rosettes on the corner posts, ending in round, fluted, and tapered legs adorned with acanthus leaves.

The Gustavian style, named after King Gustav III of Sweden, is a restrained interpretation of the French Louis XV and Louis XVI style. King Gustav III was enamored with the neoclassical style and therefore created his own interpretation for Sweden. -
