Sold Sold
  • Description
A pair of armchairs designed by the Italian designer Silvio Cavatorta in the 1950s. After meticulous restoration, these armchairs now feature comfortable foam upholstery covered in sumptuous velvet from the prestigious Elitis house. They sit elegantly on a patinated brass base, adding a touch of refinement to their design.

Silvio Cavatorta, born in Bologna in 1900, was a leading Italian designer. Deeply influenced by Art Deco, this movement strongly influenced his future creations. In the 1930s, he set up his own workshop, quickly becoming famous for his signature patinated brass furniture. His innovative work earned him prestigious awards, including the Compasso d'Oro prize in 1955, recognising his creative genius. His iconic creations include the "Futura" lamp and the "Eleganza" chair, which fused elegance and functionality. Silvio Cavatorta remains a key figure in twentieth-century Italian design.
