Description
A Phillip Lloyd Powell New Hope walnut lounge chair with ottoman, made circa 1960. It is named after the town in Pennsylvania where the first version of the chair was designed around 1948 and produced through the years. It is probably Powell’s most famous design, with its combination of hand-crafted organic shapes and seating comfort.
It is constructed out of a boomerang shaped seating and backrest and sculptural armrests. In the front and the back of the seating, with an expressive wood joint, there is spindle inserted, where the canvas webbing is wrapped around. It has loose cushions with a green fabric upholstery.
Dimensions of the ottoman:
W 23.6" / 60cm
D 24.4" / 62cm
H16.9" / 43 cm -
