Description
Queen Anne Style Polychrome Chinese Chairs
Set of 6 polychrome Queen Anne style chairs with oriental motifs, following 17th century models. Made in the style of the classic Queen Anne chair in the second half of the 19th century, they follow the style of European chinerias or chonoiseries of the time.
The high backrest is composed of a richly decorated central platform. Each chair features characters of Chinese origin, such as maidens, monks and peasants. The top and back of the platform depict plant motifs and exotic birds from Asia in green and pink tones. The cabriole legs have the typical curves of French Baroque furniture, ending in a simple curved foot.
The chair is stuccoed and polychrome-plated in detail, with a soft cream base colour. The seat is trapezoid-shaped, with curved lines, upholstered in a beautiful champagne-coloured damask fabric.
