Rare Pair of Georgian Dresser Stools
-
Description
Very fine and rare pair of George II period mahogany dresser stools, the single board tops of dense mahogany with thumb molded edge over scalloped trestle ends with boarded sides.
Very attractive and useful in their own right, dresser stools have long sought after by both collectors of treen and vernacular furniture. Their original purpose was apparently to elevate platters and chargers on a serving piece (i.e. a dresser) to find a pair is a rarity and to find ones made in such beautiful timber and of sophisticated "town" styling is especially gratifying. -
