Ivory Boucle Sofa Attributed to Pamio, Massari & Toso for Stillwood, Italy, 1960

Sold Sold
  • Description
1960s Italian modular sofa attributed to Pamio, Massari & Toso (Designers) for Stillwood (maker) who were known for creating completely new forms following developments in foam technology in the 1950s and 1960s. This iconic low modular sofa consists of 4 sculptural semi-curved sections (2 backs and 2 seats) which can be placed together as a single sofa or divided as 2 separate seating areas. Similar to the "Lara" sectional, this sofa is an example of foam being used structurally, in this case to make a low-slung U-shape, with the two pieces fitting together like an organic jigsaw. Newly restored and upholstered in Florence, Italy, in an imported Pierre Frey off-white bouclé. This Italian sofa is on display at the Gallery at 200 Lex at the New York Design Center.
