Description
This rustic tripod stool dates from the early 20th century and embodies the understated beauty associated with wabi sabi aesthetics and vernacular craftsmanship. Constructed in solid wood, the chair is defined by its primitive geometric structure, organically shaped seat, and subtly irregular hand-worked surfaces that reveal decades of use and natural aging. The restrained silhouette, consisting of three tapered legs and a simple open backrest, gives the piece a sculptural clarity while preserving its utilitarian origins. Rich grain patterns, natural imperfections, and a deeply developed patina contribute to its tactile presence.
Originally conceived as functional rural seating, the stool today resonates as a collectible expression of rustic minimalism. Its balanced proportions and honest construction reflect a timeless approach to furniture making in which practicality and material sensitivity were inseparable. Equally suited to wabi sabi interiors or contemporary spaces seeking warmth and texture, the piece possesses a quiet architectural presence that transcends its humble origins. All our rustic furniture has undergone a two-cycle preventive woodworm treatment for long-term care and preservation. -
