Sculptural Artisanal Hand-Shaped Stools in Wood, 1970s
-
Description
These two wooden sculptural bar stools are handmade in the 1970s and have a unique appearance. They consist of two pieces of wood, the base, and the seat. A sturdy base is provided with a notch halfway through to rest your feet on it. The foot flows into the upper part in a sloping line. In the palm of the hand, we see three pin-hole connections with which the hand is secured to the foot. Carefully and with great finesse the hand has been carved from the wood. Then the nails and skin folds are beautifully gouged out. The natural beauty of the wood with a finely acquired patina gives these items their strength and appearance. Of course, when we look at these figures, we have to think of the designs of Pedro Friedeberg. They have light signs of wear such as scratches and stains but are furthermore in very good condition.
